Zijun Xu

I am a Broadcast and TV Production graduate from Teesside University in the UK, with previous academic training in Broadcasting and TV Directing at the Communication University of China, Nanjing. My work focuses on documentary filmmaking, camera operation, live production, sports broadcasting, commercial video production, and public-sector media communication.

My experience has allowed me to work across different production environments, from live sports coverage and commercial shoots to rural culture fieldwork, public communication projects, and campus media production. I have supported the primary broadcast of the Jiangsu City Football League with Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, where I was involved in on-site direction, camera work, OB workflow, and multicamera coordination. This experience helped me better understand the importance of timing, communication, and quick response in live production.

I have also worked as a camera assistant and drone operator on a CARSLAN commercial shoot, contributing to aerial establishing shots and visual production support. In addition, my experience with rural culture fieldwork and public-sector media projects has strengthened my ability to create visual and written content for different audiences and communication needs.

Alongside my production experience, I have held several leadership roles, including President of the International College Integrated Media Center, Minister of the Student Press Agency Camera Department, and Class Monitor. These roles have helped me develop strong teamwork, project coordination, communication, and on-site problem-solving skills.

Creatively, I am especially interested in documentary portraiture, local cultural expression, and visual anthropology. I see filmmaking not only as a technical process, but also as a way to observe people, understand places, and express culture through images.

I am familiar with multicamera production, drone cinematography, news writing, visual communication, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop. In the future, I hope to continue developing as a visual creator in documentary, camera work, live production, and cultural media, creating work that is honest, thoughtful, and visually engaging.
